Marjory, If you proffer legal tender on a transaction in the amount of the bill or more, and it is not accepted, the debt is discharged by statute. I don't go to Starbucks, so I don't know if you have to pay when you order, or you pay when you get your coffee. If you pay when you get your coffee, and they don't accept your FRNs, get out your camera and record the conversation. Refer to Uniform Commercial Code § 3-603. TENDER OF PAYMENT. Then take your coffee and walk away. Disclaimer: I am not an attorney. Do your own research and draw your own conclusions. Here is the code:

§ 3-603. TENDER OF PAYMENT.

(a) If tender of payment of an obligation to pay an instrument is made to a person entitled to enforce the instrument, the effect of tender is governed by principles of law applicable to tender of payment under a simple contract.

(b) If tender of payment of an obligation to pay an instrument is made to a person entitled to enforce the instrument and the tender is refused, there is discharge, to the extent of the amount of the tender, of the obligation of an indorser or accommodation party having a right of recourse with respect to the obligation to which the tender relates.

NO AMERICAN should be patronizing Starbucks to begin with!!

People!........VOTE with YOUR DOLLARS! (it REALLY DOES work!)

By now, we SHOULD ALL have a long list of corporations that we SHOULD be 'boycotting'!

It's really simple.......

if they are Anti-American (this would include the Khazarian State, known as 'Israel')

if they are 'woke'

if they are Anti-Human (this would include the Khazarian State, known as 'Israel')

all of the above are SATANIC, which is, obviously, Anti-Human!

I don't go there unless I'm on the road and can't find anything else but had no problem with cash last month at Starbucks in AZ or CA. However, a friend went to get new glasses at a large chain and they refused to take him as apptmts could only be made online. He said he has no computer. Told him to use his phone. He has no smart phone. They also would not take cash and he does not own a credit card. He was very perturbed over this and when he asked them what should be done as at 80 there is no way he is changing... all they did was shrug.

Perhaps we need a letter writing campaign to CEOs? Or legislators? How can people not take this country's money? I don't know how to get individuals to stop going to these places.

There is a brewery that features ax-throwing outside Haymarket, Virginia on Rt. 55 that doesn't accept cash. I went there once.
