Thanks for the timely reminder. I have ten adult layers and eight new baby chicks so I should probably clean outside for the chicks introduction to the chicken run in about 8-10 wk
I never thought of city water as a disinfectant, but now that you mention it, I'm going "duh." My tap water is so loaded with industrial disinfectants that it gives off fumes.
An added bonus to sunlight??.......spray down with Distilled White Vinegar....and then 'bake' it in the sun.
Sunlight as a disinfectant also works with gardens. If one keeps having problems with 'diseased' veg plants.....cover up the garden, at the end of the season, with a black cover (black garbage bags; thicker black plastic sheeting), and let the sun do it's thing, to the soil. This works for killing weeds/weed seeds in the soil, too.
Perhaps Safrax tablets dissolved in water sprayed over the whole kit and caboodle would thoroughly disinfect completely. But as an additional thought, with the proper dilution Safrax could be added to your rabbit's drinking water as either a preventative or healing agent (works with better efficacy than most antibiotics). Safrax tablets are the same as chlorine dioxide which can also be taken internally for human health. I keep both Safrax tablets and chlorine dioxide solution on hand for human and animal health. (Also works for killing mold either as a solution or turning tablets into a gas)
Oh Alexandra, thank you so much for reminding me. I do have a pretty good sized stash of safrax tabs. It's strong, but in a grid down not supply chain situation you'll need it to keep things clean.
It's just that almost all my stuff is in boxes.... somewhere! The school bus, a storage lcoker far off (not a good idea but that is how it's working now).

Also chlorine dioxide tablets can be used which I have and am anxious to try!

I'm all set to use Chlorine Dioxide for my chickens. I'm excited.
Wow! Thank you! So smart and efficient. Somehow very elegant, too. Good luck with your rabbits!
thanks. I'm going to look at a buck this weekend.
