Most linux based distributions have a facility to use a 'live' system. That is the linux system can be run (on a windows machine) from a USB thumb drive which has been installed for that purpose. The so called Live USB will be chosen in start up in preference to the normal internal hard drive after the PC SETUP has been changed for its initial sequence. The live system is well functional but will lack specific apps that were on the PC normal hard drive.
Oh cantalan! you have some experience. Yes, you can do a hard drive partition on an existing machine. Since I had an old laptop that wasn't working anyway I wiped it all clean and did a full Linux install.
I've been surprised at how many apps there are for linux. And yes, there are some that aren't. I'm going to be running two machines for a while until I get used to the new OS.
Is there a way to see a replay? I am in UK and 1:00 am is hard to do. I would like to see the webinar and would want to share with several UK friends who all still use windows. I have used only (Ubuntu) Linux based for many years and would not want to go back. Anyone thinking about trying (ubuntu) - my own approach was to start on an old laptop which was working and not so very ancient, put (Ubuntu) say, on it, and keep my windows existing pc in constant use while I ran the Ubuntu laptop alongside. It took a little while to gradually get to use everything I needed on Ubuntu, and later never needed the windows pc.
Hi P. Brooks, I'm sure there will be a replay. Love that you are becoming your own bank! I'm really into Theta as you've seen from my posts. And physical silver...
One of my wallets for the small bits of other tokens I use is Exodous. It's privacy oriented, no KYC, and easy to use. It has a Linux version. It holds hundreds of different cryptos.
Several years ago I got off of Microsoft Office: word, excel, etc. and jumped to one of the alternatives SoftMaker Free Office. It's very similar. I think Glenn likes Office Libre and I'm going to load that on the next computer I do a Linux install on.
The switch was very easy.
There is a bit of a learning curve with Linus, but not much.
Signed up. Hoping there'll be a recording as it is 1am in UK.
Excellent. Thanx so much but not sure about the time difference but I hope to watch the recording❤️
Haven’t been able to use my computer in a month now. Would be glad to install Linux or Manjero💯

Gotta say, it feel great to be taking this step.

Yes, I am sure there will be a replay. Sign up and I'm sure they will keep reminding you :). LOL
Thanks Marjory. It is the availability time zone which is the real problem.
Hi P Brooks, wow, I'm not sure I understand all of that... but it sounds like you've got an awesome setup.
I believe it is so important for as many of us who can, to switch off Big Techs systems.
