Oh! yes, you can buy prescription meds from India. Less expensive. There are several companies and I know people who have done it. It takes 20 to 30 days to arrive, but it's something.
I've made tinctures for a few years now. I was using canning jars to make them. When I went to get some more Lobelia from a jar, the lid had begun to rust out, so I just poured the tincture into the vodka bottle. I think I'll do that from now on. Too precious to risk any waste. Lobelia is for acute asthma attacks, I use mullein daily as a preventative measure. For anyone with a worm bin, and you think the alcoholic marc might hurt your worms, I'm hear to tell you they love it. I had placed the marc in the corner of the worm bin and when I checked on it the next day, all the worms were in that location and stretched out like college guys on a frat house lawn the morning after a big party. Within a short time, the worm population had doubled. Apparently the old adage of "Candy is dandy but liquor is quicker also pertains to worms!
Thank you for this, Marjory. A few decades ago, I came across as formula from Middle Ages Europe called, "Super Tonic", ingredients in good grocery stores. As a Traditional Naturopath of 53 years of clinical and non-clinical experience, I have used it many time with patients experiencing various respiratory distress and conditions. Flu and colds are easily handled. In general, it just cures them all, and usually within 24 to 48 hours. Pneumonia, whooping cough and the like may take a bit longer, depending on case specifics. I always have some in my frig. Email me at gm@grandmedicine.com for the formula--with "SuperTonic" in the subject line. Let's get these natural cures out there.
You are so smart!!!...I have been using Mountain Rose Herbs essential oils for 16 years now to treat advanced cancer...I take anti-cancer drops of oils in capsules several times a day , along with a major change in my diet...Love them!...I have never made tinctures.....Hmmm....something else for me to try. Thank you for freely giving of your knowledge :))
Yes ..Get a copy of " Quick Reference Guide for Using Essential Oils" ( by Connie & Alan Higley )
Two of the best Anti-Cancer ESO's are Lemon & Oregano!!, but there are many others....Frankincense, Lavender, Rosemary, Caraway, Lemongrass, Clove, Cinnamon, Geranium, Clary Sage, Basil, Orange, Myrrh, Tarragon, Sage ,Rose, Grapefruit, Marjoram, Nutmeg, Thyme Tangerine, Tea Tree, Sandalwood , all conifer oils, and there are others than the ones I just listed. Obviously some of these cannot be taken internally , but most can. As you do research on each ESO it will say whether or not it can be taken internally. You should not put more than 3-4 drops of each oil in a cap ( I will take a mix of 3 different oils in a capsule , then fill the rest of the cap with a good carrier oil like EVOO ,or MCT )...any food grade oil will do..
In the beginning I made 3 different capsules a day ( always take with a good amount of food or after eating ).. Some oils like Oregano are "hot" oils in that they will cause a bad rash if not heavily diluted , but all of that info is in the book. ...Now I just take 1 capsule a day because the advanced cancer is pretty much contained / shrunk.
BUT...a major change in diet is more important than the oils. NOTHING will help if you don't quit feeding cancer with foods that turn to sugar!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fermentation is what feeds cancer and carbs , sugar all ferment! Fruit might help prevent cancer , but once you have cancer fruit will become an enemy, because of the sugar content. The only fruit I eat are lemons , limes ( as salad dressing ) and avocados .. all low in carbs. BTW...the cancer I've been treating is Cervical / Vaginal. Also , to mix up some ESO's with coconut oil and fill up a vaginal applicator to place in the freezer ( to harden ) , then insert before bed with a wad of toilet paper to catch the drainage as it melts is a great idea!! :)) Just make sure you don't use any "hot" oils or you'll think your on fire down there!
Also get to know your local plants! Walk around, check out undeveloped lots and roadsides and such... so far I've found more than ten different medicinal plants. My fridge is full of foraged (wildcrafted?) medicinal plants that are waiting to be processed, and I live in an overdeveloped suburb in vicinity of a large major city, where there's hardly any land that weeds are allowed to grow. Imagine what you can find if you're somewhere more rural.
I have celiac, so grain alcohol is a big nope... Sugar alcohol, on the other hand... mix 1/3 water and 2/3 glycerin in a separate container before pouring it in the jar, and let your glycerite sit for a few weeks longer before straining than you would with alcohol tincture. Seven Minerals sells organic glycerin that's derived from coconut for around $20 a bottle.
(Unfortunately I'm not getting paid to be the village witch. I started foraging with a mind to save money on groceries and found that just about all the wild plants in my area are medicine, not food)
No way to stock prescriptions up. Drs won’t write lots of months and insurance won’t fill.

Great to know. Have to go back to my Home Medicine 101 class.
As always, thank you very much for the great info... !!!
Good skill to have for our future preps. Grow some herbs.
Another seed and plant family business; https://strictlymedicinalseeds.com
used them for years, interesting starter plants. Always good to have options.
Thanks Marjory!
Great reference. Thanks!
Thank you Marjory!
Are you familiar with the company named 'Organic Alcohol'? I think they're in Oregon.
It's a small company that makes all kinds of 195 - 200 proof clean alcohols.
The 195 proof grain alcohol can be added to the vodka if you want to raise the alcohol percentage. > https://organicalcohol.com/
Cheers 'n ML ;-) 👍
Oh! thanks for that reference. I am guessing they can't ship out of State... The ATF has a whole rulebook and income generation program.
I bought some grain alcohol during the pandemic. Theoretically could I use it to make medicines in your recipes?
Yes, you could use it. I'm wondering how high and alcohol content it is? Keep in mind the ratos for dried versus fresh herbs.
It's Graves Grain Alcohol. It's 95%ALC/ 190 Proof.
Everclear brand is another grain alcohol to use.
Yes, I have a love hate relationship with Everclear. It's made from GMO corn.
Too bad they can't change their recipe to Non-GMO corn.
Definitely making tinctures, and bottling wild lettuce syrup today.
Good! That wild lettuce works!
THANK YOU!!
You are welcome.
