Marjory, you rock! I love how well rounded you are with business and food and community. You are one practical gal. Thanks for putting yourself out there and being so real.
Great ideas to see if your neighbors are ready for to share a community to have others expand the wealth of prepping lifestyle in these trying times.
Time to see others as part of the preps.
A couple people in the neighborhood do share stories and help. But be very careful too that there are hysterical people who except certain issues until they show their true colors of hating guns for self protection, then all bets are off.
Sometimes think the age group range, depending on which generation people grew up in, can make a difference in finding like minded neighbors.
We still have after covid, neighbors walking alone and driving in their EV's alone wearing masks, these probably not the ones you want to share in the world of prepping, wink;).
A little story of prepping, Interesting my next door neighbor before passing ask me to take his 3 hens. It was okay the first day until 2 hours later the older hens, his an mine, started to fight. So I separated the two flocks with chicken wire.
In a few days was to fix their separate hen house from my hens. Yesterday went to feed the hens, that day one of my friends hens was not doing well for a couple days. Yesterday she saw me coming to feed them, she looked up at me put her head down an passed away. I think she waited for me before passing.
I had a similar hen that passed away, figure both were egg bound. It has happened to other chicken owners, egg bound is a risky tough situation to try to take an egg out without breaking it and cause an infection. Vets cost too much to afford the care.
Be great to have a vet for a neighbor when the economy takes a dump and our pets, cats, dogs, chickens and other animals can get help.
I am sure people living in RED states have a better chance to develop a community better than those currently living in Blue sanctuary states. Cities may have a limited source of like minded neighbors to share the vision, then smaller suburban towns outside those large decaying cities.
Have seen liberals who hate guns and one time get mugged, they usually turn out to be big time Second Amendment gun totters after that, kind of humorous in a way.
Wonder what gun ownership is like in Central America and PR is for Americans living abroad?
And what other methods do they use for self defense.
Noticed the BYRNA launcher is good in all 50 states, except CA, NJ, NY the bureaucrats won't let those people have the pepper balls, only the kinetic rubber balls. But in CA you can buy pepper spray at sporting goods stores, what's the difference, go figure.
Maybe that worked in Texasland, but in a lot of other places, namely blue states, hosting a prepper meetup is social suicide and may even make you a target for harassment. You don't tell people what you're doing unless you've known them for at least a few years and figured out through subtle hints that you're on the same page.
The game in blue states isn't finding like minded people, it's getting the lemmings to perceive you as cute and quirky so they leave you alone. Self reliance becomes "living sustainably and reducing your carbon footprint," or "doing cottagecore," or tritely "spending time with nature" to self-treat your depression because leftists are all f'ing depressed. I would be depressed too, if I couldn't figure out what a woman is, even though I am one.
